  Would you like to live on Gilligan's Island?

  well, this may be a bit of a strange post, so brace yourself.

  lol!.

  do you think you would enjoy living on a modern day version of gilligan's island with a few good friends?

  yeah uncle bruce.
  at least these days I only think it, I dont act.
  Actually, maybe Ive read too much history and know that what
  I said is exactly what would HAPPEN.
  Lots of evidence for this, just one, the mutiny on the bounty.
  When they caught up with them 12 years later there was only 1 man,
  8 women and about 20 kids.

  Pivitol dates.

  the society often makes a big fuss about so called pivitol dates.. i think these are 15 ce and 536 bce.. my question is do archeologists and historians see these also as pivitol dates from which to work or is it just the witnesses?

  I never heard THAT one before.actually, never heard 14 ce mentioned at all.
  Brother are you in error or have they changed that from 29ce to 14ce?
  this prompts me to ask(a recollection)anybody read that ANCIENT Wt
  where its saying that good old pastor Russell was sat, superlate at night, pouring over his fathers business books?
  The significant thing was that he was 12 years old, same age as jesus when he was discussing theology with the older men in the temple.
  The only bible ref to the Christ between his birth and his baptism.
  Linking Russells behaviour to Christs there.

  Actually this brings back a memory,I was doin a course in english lit once and we had to do a class group project "What would we all do if we were stranded on a desert island"?
  I told the class first thing I would do would be exterminate all the other men keep all the women alive.When I told them why all the women in the class fell out with me. ...

  Ex Mormons/Ex-JW's

  when i first started having doubts about the wts, i did a search on other cult-like religions and stumbled across an ex-mormom site.

  i started reading some of the stories of former mormons and it was just like something a witness would write.

  for instance, here is a quote of one such ex-mormon.... "only an organization that had something to hide would be paranoid about the truth being revealed about itself.

  yeah bro. I was involved in the Mormon church too for a while,
  church with an amazing History, especially relative to its founder Joe Smith,they should make a movie about that guy, but if they did theyd have to say it was science fiction.Noone would believe it.
  do you know that they wear special underwear?
  Its like a full undersuit cut off at the knees and arms and embossed with all kinds of mystical symbols (I never got any myself but saw others wearing them). Theyre a kind of suit of armour,protecting against wicked energies and they have to wear them constantly,must be very uncomfortable.

  if you have an unusual baptismal/ dedication story, tell us.. best story wins a non-prize.. heres mine.. well...when i was about all of 16 years old my father was a ministerial servant and he told us one evening that his name had.

  come up in connection with being made an elderman, he was very.

  happy, after all he was a man who loved power and authority.. a couple of weeks later he was down in the dumps, appeared some.

  The Days of 1975

  many of us have pounded the watchtower publications a lot for their 1975 predictions, and the general attitdue among jws as the society pushed the last few months or even weeks before armageddon - as 1975 approached.

  what we have not mentioned too much is what the jw culture was like, and how we all saw world events lining up to bring forth the war of the great day of god the almighty at har-megeddon!.

  late 1960s: as we wrapped up the decade of the 60s, we had witnessed three major political assassinations, the stepping up of the endless viet nam war, the social rebellion of the hippies, the loss of usa national and international respect, declining economy, irrelevancy in many mainline churches, the drug culture, college riots everywhere, and civil rights movement -- all of these -- nearly splitting our nation apart.

  whatever happened to that line of reasoning about the churches disintegrating,catholic priest seminars with no recruits,churches closing their doors?
  With the explosion of pentecostalism in the 80s it just sort of stopped being mentioned didnt it?

  further to this, Seventh Day Adventists claim that their famous return of Christ prediction of 1844 was fullfilled invisibly when christ entered the most holy of the invisible heavenly temple.
  If that isnt claiming He is in the "inner chamber"...what is?

  actually buddy Ive noticed some interesting things about Matthew 24 myself.The very FIRST sign mentioned is the prevelence of FALSE PROPHECY. Interestingly there is a passage that says "if they shall say he is in the secret chamber,believe it not".
  Could be interpreted as meaning if they tell you he resides in a hidden place or is invisibly present.
  could be.
  All these come in Christs name, not necessarily claiming to BE Christ, but to represent him.
  I think false prophecy angles are mentioned on no less than 3 occassions thru the course of the chapter,verse4, verse 11,verse 23,
